NRC DENIES PUBLIC RIGHT TO INSPECTION - In a letter to our expert, Arnie Gunderson, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission denied our request to attend recent inspections of Honeywell's uranium hexafluoride processing facility. These inspections were ordered after a release of radioactive material several weeks ago at the facility. In the letter, the NRC says they generally do not allow the public to attend such inspections - "The NRC remains committed to transparency and public involvement, and we will continue to communicate with the public through other means, such as public meetings, reports, and our website."
